What about raw Cacao powder?
Cacao powder does not contain the health and wellbeing benefits of ceremonial grade Cacao. The process of making it into a powder separates the Cacao butter from the Cacao solids - removing the nutrients and the spirit of the plant.
Ceremonial Cacao is made from lightly roasted, fermented Cacao seeds - cracked into nibs, then ground very finely until they form a paste called Cacao Liquor. This paste is then solidified into blocks for shipping, and finely chopped to brew.
What makes it ceremonial?
The intention matters. Everyone is fairly paid and the communities that grow it are nurtured. Cacao should support the indigenous that grow it, not harm them.
The Cacao must be GMO free and organic. Though you will not see an organic label on our Cacao, rest assured pesticides and herbicides are not used. These labels can be bought and are very expensive. We would rather save everyone money and stand by our product and supplies. We cannot honour the plant without honouring the people.
Cacao comes a very long way to be with us. It is the brothers and sisters around the world that allow us this healing connection with this plant. I work with suppliers that honour the farmers and communities that grow and prepare the Cacao.
Making sure the land and communities are nurtured so there is reciprocity of healing in every transaction. It cannot be a healing medicine if there is exploitation down the line.

✧ Come back to the heart - our truest place of knowing
✧ Her biggest lesson she has taught me in reconnection. Once we reconnect with ourselves we can reconnect with others and the natural world around us. Finding love in and for ourselves means we can turn that love outwards and find ourselves in each other.

Historically, Cacao has been revered across Mesoamerican and South American cultures - by the Maya, the Aztec, and beyond. Its Greek name, Theobroma Cacao, literally means Food of the Gods. It was believed you could talk to God after drinking Cacao, that it why it was prized more highly than gold - because what is more prized than being able to talk to God. Call it God. Call it Source. Call it your higher self. Cacao helps you slide into an altered state of consciousness, a micro psychedelic experience, where you can receive wisdom and guidance that is of relevance to your life or current situation.
In ceremony, we are simply continuing what has always been done: gathering in circle, drinking together, and listening to what the plant has to say.

Cacao stimulates serotonin production and these medications can result in there being too much Serotonin in your system. Theobromine is a vasodilator and bronchodilator which is why those with high blood pressure, heart issues and severe anxiety need to be mindful. A reduced dose can be given safely - but Rebecca needs to know. Cacao is a very safe medicine when respected, and we take that respect seriously.
